The Easter Nail.

On a cross that was carved from one simple tree, Jesus suffered and died for the world to see.

Crowned by sharp thorns, pierced, and broken by nails, his enemies were certain

Christ's ministry failed. But soon it was clear that his death had assured

our life everlasting, through the pain he endured.

At that sorrowful moment, we all gained our connection to the wonder and joy

of His Easter morn resurrection.

Hang this nail in your home,

forever to be the sign of God's promise of eternity.  (Anon)

Priest’s collection: Priests Easter Collection will be taken up this weekend

Divine Mercy Sunday 23rd AprilEnnis Cathedral 2.15 p.m.   Devotions, Confessions, Mass and Benediction.  The Feast of Divine Mercy is a public feast day formally established by St John Paul 11 in May 2000.  The Divine Mercy Devotion is inspired by the experiences and writings of a Polish nun, Sister Faustina, who died at 33 years of age in 1938 and was canonised in April 2000.   It embraces priests, religious and laity united in their commitment to live mercy in relating to their brothers and sisters, to make the mystery of Divine Mercy known and to invoke God’s mercy for sinners. Novena of Divine Mercy Starts Good Friday.

Community Games Athletics: Ruan community Games athletics will be held in Ruan G.A.A. Field on Sat. 29th April next at 3pm. Events are for boys and girls, aged from u8 to u16, living in the parish, and there will also be fun races. All are welcome.

Apostolic Work Society:  Ruan and Dysart Apostolic Work members wish to think most sincerely all who helped towards the success of their annual display day. Many thanks to the members who did work throughout the year; those who donated sacred vessels and gave donations. A special thanks to all our local support and to the many apostolic members who visited from other parishes. All proceeds go to help with the medical and educational needs in the foreign missions.

Ruan/Dysart History Group Display: In winter of 2014 a small group of like-minded individuals came together to undertake what they considered to be a very important local history initiative

The group set out to record, on a townland by townland basis, the local landscape details, families who resided there, local characters, events, traditions and so on, in an effort to pass on to future generations this local lore.

The local history group have, to date, compiled information on a number of townlands and wish to display a sample of 8 townlands in Morty Kelly’s on Tuesday 2nd May between 8 and 10 p.m.

The townlands being displayed are Ruan Commons (village), Bealnalicka, Nuan, Lisduff, Caherclancy, Erinagh, Ballynagonnaghtagh, & Kilcurrish.

All are welcome and perhaps you may have a query or a particular snippet of detail you wish to share, the group will be happy to oblige.

If anyone has family photos that they would wish to have included in this project, the group would be delighted to have them scanned and returned with the greatest of care.

Camogie News: A great game played at high championship intensity saw the Ruan girls come out on top 4.7 to 0.1 on a beautiful morning for Camogie in Parteen. The desire from the Ruan girls to contest every ball all over the pitch made the difference between the teams and meant that home team got no easy plays. Despite the score line Ruan did not have it all their own way, some great play was required to gain the scores near the end of the first half that was vital to the final outcome.
