Rest in Peace We remember in our prayers this evening Fr. Paddy Carmody a native of Carrigaholt, and a priest of the Diocese of Killaloe for 63 years.
He was a past pupil of St Flannan’s College, Ennis. In1961 he became curate in Ruan, where he served until 1972. He was laid to rest in the Church grounds in Cooraclare during the week.  Suaimhneas síoraí tabhair dó a Thiarna, agus go lonraí solas suthain air

“You Shall Be My Witness” The final preparation programme concluded last Sunday night in Corofin. A sincere “Thank You” to the 70 pupils in the
Imeall Boirne Pastoral Area and to their parents and teachers for their active participation and continued preparation for the Blessed Sacrament of Confirmation in June.

Ash Wednesday March 6th marks the beginning of the holiest time of the Christian year. With the priest using his right thumb to apply the ashes while saying the prayer, "Remember that you are dust and to dust you shall return," the 40-day Lenten season commences. Traditionally, at least one person from every household attends Church on Ash Wednesday so they would bring home a pinch or two, so that all family members could have their foreheads marked.

Successful Fundraiser.  Two student teachers, Louise McDonnell from Dysart and Claire Kearney from Corofin, recently held a fundraising walk in Dromore Woods, raising €740. They represented Mary Immaculate College in Limerick in a nationwide colleges fundraising effort, entitled “Walk for Jailbreak”, Ireland’s largest student run charity, which raised €56,000 to be split equally between Amnesty International and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

Thought for the Week

“Successful mother’s are not the
ones who have never
struggled. They are the ones who
never gave up, despite the
struggle”….. Sharon Jaynes

This weekend at all Masses in the Cluster we welcome Guest Speakers on the 8th Amendment.
“ The Eight Amendment to the Constitution upholds the right to life of both mother and baby. It is not about one life at the expense of another. It is about
cherishing mother and baby equally”. This is a very positive aspect of Irish Society and a unique protection which should be cherished. We really
need to stand up and shed light on what we have in our Irish culture, which is a very deep respect and love for all our citizens both born and unborn.

'The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before.

The woman existed, but the mother, never.

A mother is something absolutely new.'       (Rajneesh)

Trócaire’s Lenten Campaign:  “…whoever honours a mother is like someone amassing a fortune.” Ecclesiasticus, 3:4.  This Mother’s Day we pray for mothers around the world who agonise over their children’s futures in the harshest environments.  We think of Miriam, who appears on this Lent’s Trócaire Box, as she wonders if she will manage to get her little daughter Maria to safety when the next storm hits northern Honduras and floods their home. Read Miriam and Maria’s story at www.trocaire.org/lent
