Thought for the Week

Imperfect people are all God has ever had to work with.

That must be very frustrating to Him

But He deals with it.    So should we!

And when we see imperfection - Remember that limitation

Is not in the Divinity of the work......So be patient, kind and forgiving.

(Elder Jerrfre R. Holland)

Consultation on Education:  The National Council of Curriculum and Assessment have invited submissions on the teaching of ethics in our schools. Written proposals may be sent to ERB and Ethics Consultation, National Council of Curriculum and Assessment, 35 Fitzwilliam Square, Dublin 2 or emailed to info@ncca.ie or online www.ncca.ie/consultation.erbe.  The closing date is 31 March, 2016. Catholic schools currently make provision for inter-religious and inter-cultural learning and awareness in terms of their policies, ethos, leadership, the programme in religious education and across other curricular areas.  This commitment to inter-religious and inter-cultural dialogue is clearly outlined in the new religious Education Curriculum for Ireland and in the Veritas programme Grow in Love.

Proclamation Day. Tuesday March 15th is designated as "Proclamation Day" in schools. Ruan NS is hosting its own Proclamation Day Presentation in their school hall from 1pm to 2pm on the day. This will include history, music, song, poetry and dance.  A historical presentation of old family photos and artefacts will be on display. Staff and pupils will dress in the style and fashion of 100 years ago for this day.  A Cead Mile Fáilte is extended to all members of the community so please come join us as we travel back in time to celebrate our cultural heritage and this momentous period of Irish history.

Ruan Community Childcare would like to thank all who contributed to their recent Church Gate Collection, the total amount raised was €290.61

Community Games Athletics: Kilnaboy hosted the community games cross country running recently. In a very exciting race in the u13 girls, 1200m, Ruan girls scooped Gold. Neasa Ni Ainifein led the field, Aisling Moloney came ninth, Neasa Ni Leachtnain, 11th, Aoife Anderson, fourteenth and Kate Forde, nineteenth. Neasa Ni Ainifein, as overall winner, will now represent Clare at the National Finals in August. This was a great achievement for the parish, as all five girls were under age this year, giving great hope for the future.

Clothes Collection: The recent clothes collection held for Toonagh School brought in €730, for which the Parents Association of the school is very grateful. The support of the community is very much appreciated, as these monies go towards classroom supplies for the schoolchildren.

Volunteering for Nurture Africa: Becky Curtin, a young trainee nurse from Fountain, held a Sale of Work & Cake Sale in Toonagh Hall recently. Funds raised will go towards her upcoming trip to Uganda with nine other trainee nurses, to help local orphaned children with healthcare. She thanks all who baked and donated items for the fundraiser and welcomed all the support she received.
