Thought for the week

A little child wrote in her diary in a Nazi death camp -

From tomorrow on, I shall be sad

From tomorrow on - Not today - Today I will be glad.

And every day, no matter how bitter it may be,

I shall say, from tomorrow on, I shall be sad - Not today.

KILLALOE DIOCESAN POLICY AND STATEMENT - SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN

All of us share the serious responsibility and privilege of trying to ensure that children grow up in an environment where they are treasured, respected and loved and are free from danger of any form of abuse. The Diocese of Killaloe values and promotes the involvement of its young people and children in the life of the community. We want our young people to be respected and, included and have a voice. We aim to create an environment where children are confident they are safe. The Diocese is committed to working with the statutory authorities in the task of safeguarding children. For more information visit the Killaloe Diocese website at www.killaloediocese.ie

“Children are amongst God’s greatest gifts. They are to be loved and nurtured by parents and by each and everyone of us. We have a most solemn and sacred duty to keep our children safe from harm and to cherish their well being.”   (NBSCCC training manual)

VILLAGE SPRING CLEAN: We had a good turn out on the two nights for the recent litter pick in the village and environs.  Thank you to all who participated.  We collected upwards of 60 bags of rubbish.  Refreshments were served in Morty’s bar and it was a nice treat after all the hard work. We would ask people to continue the good work and pick litter as they see it.  Also, we would ask householders to do any painting and planting early so that we will be well ready for the Tidy Towns judging.

ALZHEIMER’S TEA DAY: Alzheimer's Tea Day will be held in Ruan Community Centre on Wed. 8th May next, from 10.00 am to 12.30 pm and in Toonagh Hall on Thurs. 16th May from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm. As all funds raised in the county are used within Clare, your support will be greatly appreciated.

ROSARY AT FOUNTAIN GROTTO: The Rosary will be recited each evening, for the month of May, at Our Lady's Grotto in Fountain, at 8.30 pm. All are welcome. This is the 20th Anniversary of the Grotto.

ROSARY IN RUAN CHURCH: The Rosary will be recited in Ruan Church every evening for the month of May at 7:00 pm

LOCAL HISTORY MEETING: The group studying the local history of the townlands and the families who have lived in them have gained a lot of information over the weeks it has been meeting.  The last meeting before the summer break will be held in Morty Kelly's on Wed. 8th May next at 9 pm, when the Allotment Tithes will be examined.   All are welcome.
