Successful Tractor Run.
Over 100 vehicles, including tractors, trucks and vintage cars converged on Ruan village on Easter Sunday. Starting off the proceedings the kiddies run in their toy tractors circled the church and, following a 'cuppa' in the Community Centre the adults took off on the route from the village to Kells Cross, Corofin and back to Ruan, where refreshments were served in Morty Kelly's Bar.
Monies raised on the day from the run and the sale of planters made by members of the local CE scheme will go towards replacing old & worn out machinery for the upkeep of the graveyards, village and Community centres in the parish.

Parish History Group Display.
Over the winter of 2014 a group of like-minded individuals came together to undertake what they considered to be a very important local history initiative. Concerns had been expressed by some members of the group that the local history and folklore of the parish would be lost with the passage of time, so the group set out to record, townland by townland, the local landscape details, families who resided in them, local characters, events, traditions and so on, in an effort to pass the information on to future generations.
Students of local history may, in the future, benefit from such data and, perhaps, even make possible family connections.
The group has, to date, compiled information on a number of townlands and will display a sample of eight of them in Marty Kelly's Bar on Tue. 2nd May from 8-10pm. These townlands are Ruan Commons (village), Bealnalicka, Nuan, Lisduff, Caherclancy, Erinagh, Ballynagonnaghtagh and Kilcurrish.
All are welcome to visit and, perhaps, to share snippets of detail or get answers to queries they may have.
If anyone has old family photos they may wish to include in this project the group will gladly scan them and return them with great care.

Parish Athletics.
A reminder to all interested children of the parish, from u8 to u16 to attend Ruan G.A.A. field on this Sat. at 3pm for the Community Games athletics area finals.
