Alzheimer's Tea Day.

Alzheimer's Tea Day will be held in Ruan on Tue. next, 1st May, in Ruan Community Centre, from 10.00 to 12 noon.   In Toonagh Hall, it will be held on Thurs. 3rd May, from 9.30a.m. to 12.30p.m.  A raffle will also be held in both places, with prizes of wine, chocolates, toiletries. This year is the 30th Anniversary of the Alzheimer Society of Ireland and this Community has, in the past, been very generous in lending support to this cause, and it is hoped that this generosity will continue this year.  All monies raised in Clare is spent in Clare, alleviating the burden carried by families of those who suffer from Alzheimers Disease, by supporting the local Alzheimer Day Care Centre/Drop-in Centre, the support groups and the regional Home Care Services.

Camogie.

After a well contested and sporting game, Ruan bowed out of the Junior League when they lost out to a more experienced Feakle team, on a scoreline of 1-6 to 3-9.   The girls,, who were performing at adult level for the first time after an absence of some seven years, can be very proud of their 'never say die' performance. They will now continue preparing for the Junior Championship which will take place in August, meanwhile, the team hopes to participate in the North Munster League, an initiative run through the Sports Office of LIT.  This league is run over the month of June, finishing in mid-July.   If there are any camogie players that would like to join, new members are always welcome.
U-16, in the 2nd round of the U16C League, Ruan went down to Clarecastle  on a scoreline of 3-6 to 5-7.
Scorers for Ruan were Louise McDonnell, Lauren O'Donoghue and Emer Neilan.
Their last game of the league series is against Killenena this week.
