Advent Trees.
Over the season of Advent, in anticipation of the celebration of the Birth of Jesus,  and Advent tree has been placed on the Altars of St. Tola’s Church, Dysart and St. Mary’s Church, Ruan where people may take a card from the basket underneath the tree, write the name of a loved one who will not be ‘with us’ this Christmas either because they have died, suffer from an addiction, are living away from home or are in hospital or nursing home.
They then hang the card on the tree and, on Christmas Eve these cards will form part of the Offertory procession. These people will be remembered in all the masses which will be celebrated in both churches.
