Christmas is Coming!
The Christmas Concert staged by the children of Toonagh National School on Thursday night last heralded the beginning of the Christmas season for all those who filled Toonagh Hall to capacity.   All the children were fantastic on the night, showcasing their dramatic and musical talents on stage.  The night was a huge success, largely due to the great efforts the teachers and staff of the school, Peggy O’Reilly, Mary Duffy and the Parents Association.
The local Resource Group had the hall seasonally decorated and the Parents Association organized a raffle which was very well supported.  The generosity of all who donated prizes and helped in any way is appreciated and all funds raised on the night will go towards school resources.

GAA Receives Grant.
Ruan GAA has been granted €21,500 under the Sports Capital Programme.  This will go towards the realignment of the playing field due to a stand being erected near the dressing rooms, goalposts, netting and high netting on the side of the pitch facing the road.  This high netting is a necessary safety feature to protect children who would be training in the area beside the pitch while adult training is taking place on the pitch.

Recent Death.
The death occurred recently of Seamus (Jim) Meehan from Newmarket on Fergus, a brother of Nancy Noonan, Fountain.

Guilfoyle Family Eliminated.
The local community was disappointed to see Tracey, Ezra, Sionnach and Fawn Guilfoyle bow out of Ireland’s Fittest Family’s show, aired on Sunday, December 3 last. The ankle injury which knocked Ezra out of the game forced the family into the eliminator, and Tracey, having had to cover Ezra’s classes, as well as her own in their Gym, due to his injury, just ran out of steam in the Hanging Tough round.
However, the popular family, who lived in Toonagh for many years, and where Ezra and Sionnach still reside, so enjoyed the experience that they hope to apply to take part in the show sometime in the future.

Mass on Christmas morning will be celebrated in Ruan at 10am.
