Christmas Ceremonies.
The Churches in Ruan and  Dysart were packed to capacity over Christmas Eve and Christmas morning, with visitors returning to their families for the holidays.  The masses, with Fr. Pat O’Neill as celebrant, were a joyful celebration of the birth of Christ, with the congregation taking part in readings, festive music and singing, bringing cheer to the hearts of all in attendance.

Hunting the Wren.
A number of supporters of the  local camogie club spent a few hours Hunting the Wren on St. Stephen's Day and were made to feel very welcome as they called to many houses in the parish.  Unfortunately, having run out of time, they didn’t get to visit as many houses as they would have wished, and they hope that when the call goes out next year for helpers, they might round up a few more drivers and musicians.
They are very grateful for all the support they received over the past year and are looking forward to another successful year in 2018.

Missionvale Collection.
John O’Sullivan from Ruan has spent time as a volunteer in Missionvale, South Africa with Sr. Ethel  Normoyle and has seen, at first hand, where monies collected here have been used to help bring hope to the people of the area.  Schools, Centres for food distribution and health care have been built and it is now a case of maintaining these centres and keeping them up and running.
Church gate collections were held in the parish before the Christmas masses and €985 was generously donated by the community, which is much appreciated.

Confirmation Enrolment.
A Confirmation Enrollment Ceremony for the Imeall Boirne Parishes was held in St. Mary’s Church, Ruan, recently. Sixty eight pupils from sixth  class in each of the schools attended the ceremony, in which they participated fully, with the priests of the parishes,  teachers and parents.
