Award for Brenda.

On Thursday night last, Brenda O'Donoghue, Ruan, received the Junior B Club Star Award from Clare County Camogie Board.   This was a well deserved award for Brenda, as she has been a dedicated camogie player and supporter over the years.   She has played at all ages for her own club, and when there was no adult team in Ruan, played for four years with neighbouring Corofin.
This year she played with Ruan Juniors when the Club fielded a Junior B team for the first time in seven years, and came away with the title, having first drawn with, then beaten Feakle in the replay.

Celebrations in Toonagh Hall.

On Saturday night last, the community gathered in Toonagh Hall where Nollaig na mBan was celebrated with Mass, followed by 'high tea' and a sing-song.   It was a lovely gathering which was enjoyed by young and old, and this year some families attended for the first time and were delighted at the way they were welcomed into this community gathering.   The success of the evening was down to the involvement of people offering their help in baking, providing food, helping out on the night in many various ways, from parking to serving, singing, playing music, reading at Mass and all the other ways they could help.
The local G.A.A. Club held its weekly lotto draw and a raffle was also held, ensuring that many people left the hall on the night with a little extra!

Kitchen Sessions.

The Kitchen Sessions return to Toonagh Hall on this Fri. 11th Jan at 7p.m.  Coming up to Christmas, a group from the sessions visited Clarecastle Daycare Centre when they entertained those attending on the day.   They also entertained the residents of Carrigoran Nursing Home, and, as it happened, it was on the day Dysart woman, Chrissie O'Gorman received an award from the Nursing Home, for 25 years of service, and the group was treated highly on both occasions.
