Showjumping Success for Philip.

Local rider, Philip McGuane of Schoole, won the 6 & 7 year old Class in Cavan recently.
He has now qualified for the International Competition, which will be held at the end of October.

Recent Death.

The death took place recently, in Boston, U.S.A. of Alfie Crowe, formerly of Dromina, Dysart, aged 59, following an illness.
Alfie emigrated to the U.S.A. almost thirty years ago, where he worked as a painter and decorator.  He returned regularly to keep in touch
with his family and friends, and, indeed, he and his partner, Mags, spent Easter here on what was to be his final visit.
Alfie's funeral Mass was concelebrated in St. Tola's Church, Dysart, followed by burial of ashes in Dysart Graveyard.
He is survived by his partner, Mags, brothers Des, Paddy and Willie, sisters Florrie, Olive and Mary, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

The Nihell Chalice 1713.

This Silver Chalice was gifted to the Parish of Ruan/Dysart and it was given, on loan, to the County Museum.
Fr. Pat O'Neill went to the Museum to recover the Chalice and was told that it had been returned to the late Fr.Tom Burke in Carrigoran -
neither Carrigoran House nor Fr. Burke's family know where the Chalice is, and Fr. O'Neill would be grateful if anyone with information of its whereabouts would contact him at 0862612124.
