Wedding Bells.
The wedding took place in Loughrea on Friday last of Una Lyons, daughter of Flan and Catherine, Fountain, and Simon Lawless, son of Joe and Dymphna, Athlone. Best man was Simon’s brother Steven and his friend Conor was groomsman. Una’s sister, Niamh, and Fiona McGrath were bridesmaids. The reception was held in the Loughrea Park Hotel and the couple are setting up home in Kinvara.

Ruan Schoolchildren Celebrations.
Sixth class children in Ruan School were given a lovely ‘send-off’ before the summer holidays. It began with a mass in Ruan Church, celebrated by Fr. Pat O’Neill, with their parents in attendance. Ms. Ni Chonghaile gave a short talk about the occasion and praised the children, who then returned to school where they painted their hands and left the handprints on the wall, enjoyed an ice cream party and, when they were collected by their parents, they were given a guard of honour by the children from all the other classes. The children in sixth class were Leah O’Brien, Sophie Haugh, Sarah Curtis, Lily-Mae Lyons, Ava Casey, Aaron Twomey, Dara Masterson, Jack Lordan, Teige Moloney, Aodain O’Lachtain, Sam Kelly and Jack O’Halloran.

Camogie.
Aoife Anderson represented Ruan Camogie Club playing with the Clare Minors last week in a great game against Limerick. The u-14’s played a tough game against Clarecastle last week. The past weekend saw them have a break before they get back to training.

U-20 Clare Hurling.
Members of Ruan Hurling Club, Shane Punch and Robin Mounsey were on the u20 panel when Clare played Kerry on Monday evening, in Tralee. Clare came away with a win. They now go on to play Limerick in Limerick on Monday, July 19.
