Toonagh Hall. On this Thursday evening, July 22, between 6pm and 8pm, there will be a sale of Toonagh School schoolbooks and uniforms in Toonagh Hall. The organisers will also have a sale of cakes, books and good quality toys, which they hope will be well supported, as this is also a fundraiser for the ongoing costs of keeping the hall and sports complex open in these challenging times. This event will be run in adherence with all safety restrictions. Recent Death. The deaths have occurred of Martin Dormer, Ennis, father of Sabrina Brohan and brother of Pattie Griffin, Ballygriffey, and also of Nigel Bane, Newtown, Corofin, brother of Finan Bane, Ballygriffey. Camogie News. Members of the local Camogie Club in all age groups have been very active over the past week - the under 14’s had a great win over Kilkishen on Wednesday last. The under 12’s had a win over Truagh/Clonlara on Saturday, in the first round of that competition. The under 16’s lost out to Scariff on Friday evening. The adult Junior team beat Parteen on Thursday and they now meet Feakle/Kilkishen at the weekend. Aoife Anderson, a member of Ruan Camogie Club, played with the Clare Minors last week. They overcame Waterford in the Munster Final, with Aoife scoring a great goal in the process. Brid MacNamara, also a member of the local Camogie Club and P.R.O. of Clare Camogie, will finish up her ‘one million steps for Clare Camogie’ on a visit to Ruan on Friday evening, July 30. Brid has visited all the Camogie Clubs in the county, receiving fantastic support on the journey and she hopes to have a good turn-out on Friday evening. These funds are essential to help Clubs throughout the county in their efforts to provide facilities and look after girls of all ages interested in Camogie. Anniversary Masses. The anniversary Masses for August for Dysart will be celebrated in Ruan Church on Saturday, July 31, at 8pm and for Ruan in Ruan Church on Saturday, August 14, also at 8pm. All the names of the deceased will be brought forward from last year’s list. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is in Ruan Church on Wednesdays from 3-7pm and in Dysart Church on Thursdays from 10am-1pm. Anyone wishing to contact Anne at the Imeall Boirne Office may ring 06590865, and leave a message, or Fr. Damian on 0868396636 or Fr. Pat on 0862612124. Hurling. The u15 Academy ‘A’ team overcame Doora/Barefield in Ruan on Sunday morning, a great win, in very challenging conditions, this time heat, rather than the usual rain being the reason. Shane Punch and Robin Mounsey were in action with the under 20 Clare hurling team which took on Limerick at the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick on Monday, with Limerick coming out as winners after a gallant performance by both teams in sweltering conditions on the evening. |
