Bus to Bloom.
On Friday last a bus, organised by the Toonagh Craft Group, left Toonagh at 7am with a number of garden enthusiasts, to visit the Bloom Festival in Phoenix Park, Dublin. They took a break at the Galway Plaza on the way up and in .athlone on the return journey. All who travelled were delighted with the trip, some coming home with bulbs and flowers to brighten up their own gardens.

Confirmation.
Children from Ruan and Toonagh National Schools will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in St. Mary’s Church, Ruan at 11am.  This year it is Fr. Pat O’Neill who will administer the Sacrament.
Next year, on Friday, April 24, 2020,  it is Bishop Fintan Monahan who will attend confirming the children in Ruan at 11am and Corofin at 3pm.

Student of the Year.
At St.Flannans graduation awards, Padraig Casey, Drumeer, Ruan was selected as “Student of the Year” for his involvement of various school activities, charity work, hard work ethic and determination throughout his six years in St.Flannans College. He was involved in all aspects of school life, from being PRO on the young SVP conference, receiving a papal cross as part of the John Paul II awards and chairperson on the student council. This year along with his fellow council members, he set up a leaving Cert lounge which gave students, in their final year, a place to relax before and after school study. Fr. Ignatius presented Padraig with his award!

Clothes Collection.
The Parents Association of Toonagh School had a very successful fundraiser recently and, thanks to all who donated to the cause, they raised over €600 which will go towards the schoolchildren’s activities.

Ruan School Fun Run.
Over 300 people took part in the Ruan School Fun Run on Thursday evening last. The weather looked kindly on all the participants and it was a very enjoyable evening out for all. Funds raised go towards the school and the organisers are very grateful to all who took part.
