Ruan N.S. Fun Run.
A total of 315 participants took part in, what has now become, an annual event in Ruan last week when they turned out to support the school. There were runners out for the challenge and families out for the walk in the lovely summer's evening. Afterwards refreshments were served at the school and everyone who took part enjoyed the great community spirit which they experienced.
Funds raised on the evening will go towards upgrading the school grounds and the support of all who contributed in any way is much appreciated.

Feile na nGael.
Under 14 players, mentors and supporters will travel to Co. Down to participate in the All Ireland Feile na nGael competition this coming weekend.
It is hoped that they will have an enjoyable time as they represent their local Club and County over the weekend.
A panel of twenty under 8's took part in a blitz in Clarecastle and one in Gurteen, recently, where they played very well.

Ring of Kerry Cycle.
Cycling enthusiasts, Breda, Brendan and Conrad McCullough are facing the challenge of cycling the Ring of Kerry on the 4th of July.
This is Breda's sixteenth, Brendan's twelfth and Conrad's ninth time doing this cycle and this year funds they raise will go towards Enable Ireland, a very worthy cause.

Recent Death.
The death has taken place, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Ennis of Kitty Purcell of Toormore, Ruan and formerly from Ballygriffey.
Kitty was a well known and respected woman who, with her late husband, P.J. ran "Purcell's Bar" in Ruan for many years until her retirement.
She was an astute and capable businesswoman and enjoyed the interaction with customers in the shop and pub.
In recent times she lived with, and was cared for,  by her nephew, Gerry and his family in Ballygriffey.  She had a great interest in horse racing and hurling and also in fashion.
Her funeral was in St. Mary's Church and following concelebrated requiem mass, she was laid to rest in the adjoining graveyard.
Kitty is survived by her sisters, Nonie Kelly of Tarmon, Ita Cullinan of Derrula, sisters in law Nancy Casey and Eileen Purcell, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
