New CD from, The Trí-Tones

The Ennis Trad Fest which is being held this coming weekend will see the launch of a new CD from the Tri-Tones, in the Old Ground Hotel, at 7.00p.m.

This new traditional music group features Tara Breen on fiddle, Conor Moriarty, accordion and Stephen Rooney on guitar and vocals.

Tara is a well known musician from Ruan, currently playing with The Chieftains, among other musical ensembles, and she has just returned from a tour in Italy. Conor Moriarty hails from Co. Kerry, and is no stranger to great music, with several recordings to his name. Stephen Rooney is from Co. Down, and was a member of Tara’s last band, Cirrous.

Guest musicians on the new CD are, Jim Higgins, percussion, Ciara McCrickard, vocals, Sean Óg Graham, bass, and James Blennerhasset on bass.


Christmas Sale of Work.

  Ruan Tidy Town & Graveyard Committee is holding a Christmas Sale of Work on Sun. 7th Dec. next in Ruan Community Centre after 10.00a.m. Mass.  To organise this fundraising venture, from which it is hoped to raise much needed funds to maintain the village and parish graveyards to a high standard, an open meeting will be held in the Community Centre on this Thurs night. 6th Nov. at 9p.m.  

The organisers would hope that people would come to this meeting to volunteer to help with the event.  

On the day bags of timber, cakes, flower arrangements, books and bric a brac will be on sale, and anyone who can make donations of the above will also be very welcome.


Returning to Missionvale.
John O'Sullivan from Hazelgrove, Ruan is making a return journey, in January of next year, to Missionvale, the project set up by Sr. Ethel Normoyle.  This will be John's fourth trip to the South African Township and he is currently holding a Christmas draw to aid the project.  Tickets will be on sale shortly, and the support of the community will be very much appreciated.

Toonagh Hall.
The recent meeting to organise the reopening of Toonagh Hall was postponed, and has been rescheduled to take place in the Hall on next Wed. 12th Nov. at 9p.m.  Any individuals and representatives of groups wishing to use the hall and sports complex over the winter must attend.

Imeall Boirne Mission.
The Imeall Boirne Cluster Mission is being held all this week. On this Thursday night at 8p.m. the theme of the Mission being held in Corofin is "Aspire to the future/Shoulder to Shoulder" and on Friday night, 7th Nov. the theme is "Come and See/Go and Tell. 
Mid morning mass will be held for the rest of the week in Ruan at 9.30a.m. and people are asked to take some time out in this special week.

All Ireland Champion.
Congratulations to Caroline O'Halloran of Ruan, who represented Munster this weekend in the All Ireland Inter- Provincial Wheelchair Hurling Championships. Caroline played a vital part in Munster's victory over Connacht, helping the team to an All Ireland victory.
