Local History Group. The local history group has reconvened following a long ‘Covid’ break. The group plans to publish a small booklet, in October, commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the taking of the R.I.C. Barracks in Ruan in October 1920. Recognition will also be given to members of Cumann na mBan. Further details will be published before the event. Camogie. The under 18s made a great start to the under 18 championship, with a win over Sixmilebridge last week. The under 14s reached the county final and met Ballyea on Wednesday of last week. However they lost out to Ballyea after an enthusiastic display of camogie before all their supporters, and battled up to the final whistle. Rebecca Crowe and Louise McDonnell played with Clare on Saturday last in the All Ireland semi final, unfortunately, they lost to Armagh. Summer Camp. Ruan GAA Club held a very successful summer camp, where they had 116 boys and girls participating. Members of the Club coached the children in an atmosphere of fun and enjoyment. They were delighted to receive a visit on Thursday from Tony Kelly, Clare Senior Hurler, who autographed hurleys and jerseys for the children, and Clare Senior Camogie player, Laura McMahon who visited the camp on Wednesday. The Ice Cream van proved another big attraction on the last day of the camp. |
