100th Anniversary of the Ruan Barracks Raid This Sunday The Ruan/Dysart History Group will be holding a closed commemorative ceremony at the site of the R.I.C. Barracks where a plaque has been erected to commemorate the taking of the barracks 100 years ago for the fight for Irish Independence. 

The Ruan/Dysart History Group would like to thank all those involved in this commemoration.

Priests Autumn Collection The Autumn collection for our Priests took place at all masses last weekend. As one of only four appeals in the year, we thank you all for your generous support, not just financially but in so many other caring and thoughtful ways. Míle Buíochas.

Recent Walk:  The Committee of Toonagh Hall and Sports Complex appreciate the support their recent walk attracted. Between the walk, a raffle and sale of bric a brac, €1,025 was raised, which will keep the hall open for the next two months. 


Clothes Collection: The Parents Association of Toonagh School recently held a clothes collection and brought in €960. The Association is giving €300 of this to Toonagh Hall Committee, for the use of the facilities by the schoolchildren, and the remainder goes towards school supplies, the support of all who gave bags of clothes and helped in any way is deeply appreciated.

Face Masks / Shields at Masses: The Diocese of Killaloe now ‘strongly recommends’ the wearing of face Masks or face shields in all its Churches and Buildings. We would encourage people to bring masks or face shields with them to church and to wear them. 

It is a protection for themselves and for those they meet.

We are now taking booking for Baptisms which will take place each Sunday at 12:30am rotating between the parishes. As part of the Franciscan tradition in Ennis, the Franciscan Friars will bless animals and pets at 3pm in the Friary grounds. We ask people to be respectful of social distancing.

Victorious Minor A Team There were some great scenes in Ruan village last weekend welcoming home our victorious Corofin/Ruan Minor A team! 

Well done again to players, management, parents and everyone else involved with this exceptional team


XL Store  We have petrol, groceries, deli, newspapers, Payzone where people can pay ESB /phone bills / phone credit, and T.V. Licence, we now also have the National Lottery in store and we look forward to our first winner. Congratulation, to staff members Shane and Jack who were victorious in the Minor A Final last weekend. 


Toonagh Hall and Sports Complex. The facilities in Toonagh Hall and Sports Complex are now ready to use. It has been deep cleaned by the local Rural Resource workers. Hand sanitisers have been installed at the entrance doors. Enquires for bookings may be made to Pamela on 0876224698.


Anam Cara Galway The organisation that supports bereaved parents, is holding it's monthly Parent Evening for bereaved parents on Wednesday 7 th October at 7:20pm in the Clayton Hotel, Briarhill, Galway.

 This event is free and open to all bereaved parents regardless of the age your child died, the circumstances of their death, or whether their death was recent or not. *(Subject to change in accordance with government advise)

Coastal Rosary for Life, Faith and Love Join in with thousands of people all around Ireland, as we gather on our coasts, near rivers, in our churches, at grottos etc. to pray the Rosary for Life, Faith and Love on Sunday October 13th at 2.30pm. We will join in with many countries around the world.

Adult Set Dancing Classes with Maggie:  Set Dancing Classes commencing in Corofin Hall on Thur 3rd Oct at 8pm.

Coffee Mornings. The Hospice Coffee morning was very well supported in the parish last Thursday. Toonagh Parents Association revived the event in Toonagh Hall and raised €560. In Ruan Community Centre a number of local ladies hosted the coffee morning and raised €305. 

The organisers are grateful to those who helped out, baking, helped on the day and those who donated and attended the event, the monies raised all going to Cahercalla Hospice.


Trad Music session: Informal group session for teenagers/adults begins again this Sunday 6th October from 7.30-8.30pm in Ruan Community Hall (€4 pp). 

If you would like to play music with a group while learning some new tunes, please join us. All music notes will be displayed to make it easy for all ages.

Invitation to a Conversation Evening Killaloe Diocese You are warmly invited to “Conversation Evenings” in the Killaloe diocese on Wednesday
November 7th in Carrigoran Day Centre, at 7.30 pm. It is an evening to explore where we are at this juncture as Church. How are we at this present time, post-referendum, post-diocesan changes, post-papal visit, post-World Meeting of Families?. Where are we regarding faith, belief, prayer, spirituality? How do we feel at this point in time? In what direction are we going? Where can we find God in all that’s happening? After an opening prayer and a brief introduction there will
be an opportunity for discussion, opinion, sharing and conversation. All are welcome to attend. Details are on the diocesan website.


Ruan / Dysart Senior Citizens Christmas Party The annual Senior Citizens Christmas party will be held on Sunday 2nd December in Morty Kelly’s at
2:00 pm. All are Welcome!!


Dublin City Marathon: A Sincere Thank You, to all who supported our efforts on behalf of the Clare Crusaders Children's Clinic,

Toonagh Tractor Run and Vintage Car Run : The Tractor Run was a great success and a good community spirit. It raised in excess of €2,500.

Thanks to everybody who supported it and all those who helped out on the day.
