DAY FOR LIFE: Sunday 7th October 2012. Day for life is celebrated yearly by the Catholic Church in Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales. It is a day dedicated to raising awareness about the meaning and value of human life at every stage and in ever condition:  www.dayforlife.org.

ANAM CARA'S biggest fundraiser is taking place on Saturday 3rd November 2012.... The Anam Cara National Bag Pack is taking place in Dunnes Stores Grocery outlets across Ireland.  We would be delighted if you would consider helping us between 10am - 2pm or 2pm - 6pm on Saturday the 3rd of November at your nearest Dunnes Stores.  All offers of help are very much appreciated as this is a wonderful opportunity to raise the funds we will need for the Anam Cara group activities in 2013.

TRAINING FOR DEFIBRILLATOR: The local GAA. Club has made the defibrillator, located at the Parochial House in the Village, available as a resource to the Parish. Volunteers are needed from both sides of the parish to undergo training in using the defibrillator in the event of an emergency.  Ideally, the contact individual would be a local, based in the parish who would not have far to travel, should an emergency arise. Volunteers will attend a certified training course and a refresher course as necessary at a later stage. CAHERCALLA HOSPICE COFFEE MORNING: Acknowledging a further €20 received last week in support of Cahercalla Hospice - this brings the total in Toonagh to €805.00. The generosity of the community is much appreciated.

KITCHEN SESSIONS: The Kitchen Sessions continue in Toonagh on Fri. nights, 7 to 9 p.m.  Adm. €1.  All welcome to join in the traditional singing, music and dancing.

CAMOGIE NEWS: Junior Girls had tough semi final game against Broadford on Sunday last, coming away as winners on a score line of 5-4 to 3-8. Ruan girls now in Final of the Junior B against Feakle on October 13th. Following  on with Club Success, U14 girls had a comprehensive win over Burren, semi final  game to be played on 13th October with opponents yet to be confirmed.   Mary Hickey O’Brien

RUAN GAA NEWS: 

MINOR CLUB: Under10s and Under12s  have now finished training in Ruan pitch. They will  commence training again on Saturday mornings  at 11am in Lees road, starting on Saturday 20th October. Under13s are through to knock out stages of Clooney/Quin tournament. 

Ruan/Corofin Under15s  are playing Cratloe  in Corofin this Sunday morning at 11 30am.   Susan Rice
