Thought for the Week
"Blessed is the person who is too busy to worry in the daytime

and too sleepy to worry at night". (Leo Ackman)

Mission Sunday: The people in Killaloe Diocese have been urged to support missionaries working in some of the world’s poorest countries by donating during the Mission Sunday collection. The theme for World Mission Sunday in Ireland this year 2016 is "Every Christian is a Missionary".                        As we thank you for your wonderful generosity to the Missions over the years we invite you to please continue to help our young churches to share the gift of faith though your prayer and whatever financial assistance you can.

Readers and Eucharistic Ministers: Lists of Readers and Eucharistic Ministers are being prepared for the coming Church Year which commences with the First Sunday of Advent 27th November 2016. We would welcome and encourage more people, both young and older to have an active part in the celebration of the Eucharist as readers or Ministers of the Eucharist. In order to assist people to arrange a substitute, if they themselves are unavailable, it is hoped to add mobile numbers to the list. The list would only be for distribution to Readers and Eucharistic Ministers. If you are willing to allow your number to appear on the list please text your name to Monica Tierney 0876854532.

Ruan/Dysart Senior Citizens committee would like to thank all those who contributed to their recent church gate collection. The amount raised was €391.20.

The Craft Morning in Toonagh has been such a success that it will now be held on Wednesday as well Thursday mornings from 11am. Anyone interested in learning more about any craft is welcome, someone will help - or find help - to get things started. Patterns, recipes & tips are shared in a warm atmosphere. If a parent has a child & is wondering if they can attend, they'll be made welcome to come and have a chat over a 'cuppa'

EU Anti-Trafficking Day: Every year, since 2007, October 18th has been designated EU Anti-Trafficking Day. One might have hoped on this, the 10th Anti-Trafficking Day, that we would not be facing the reality that, rather than decreasing, human trafficking is actually on the increase. Of particular concern is the trafficking of women and girls for exploitation in the sex trade. This is the fastest growing crime internationally. It may surprise you, but even far-flung towns and villages in Ireland are not exempt from the forced prostitution of vulnerable women and children. Act to Prevent Trafficking (APT), a faith-based organisation, working with more than seventy groups in the Turn off the Red Light campaign, is calling on the Government to enact the 2015 Bill to criminalise demand for sexual services – as has already been done in Northern Ireland. What can you, your parish, your community do? Take action by praying that this huge injustice may be eliminated, by raising awareness of the facts of human trafficking and by calling on your TDs to lobby the Dail to ensure that this Bill becomes law. www.aptireland.org E.m. info@aptireland.org.
