New Board of Management Toonagh N.S. 

The following are the members of the Board of Management of Toonagh School, which will serve a four year term which commenced on the 1st. Dec., 2015.

Bingo Nite.

Dysart girl and young trainee nurse, Claire McDonnell, with her student pal, Aisling Sweeney from Connemara are travelling to Tanzania in May to work with people in need in hospitals in the outback. They will help in treating people and learn about their culture and how they can learn to help each other.                          The girls are holding a Bingo Nite to raise funds for this worthy cause in Purcell's Bar, Ruan on Fri. 26th Feb. at 7.30pm. and they are hoping for good support on the night.

Recent deaths.

The death has taken place of Kitty Quinn (nee O'Dwyer) of Kells, at Carrigoran Nursing Home. Kitty, originally from Kilrush,  as a young woman, came to work at Our Lady's Hospital, Ennis and it was here she met her late husband, Paddy. They settled in Kells where they raised three daughters and where Kitty indulged her love of home-making, gardening and her day trips to Lahinch and around the county.                                                                                                                                           Her remains were removed from Carrigoran to St. Mary's Church, Ruan where, following requiem mass, she was laid to rest in the adjoining graveyard.                    Kitty is survived by her daughters Geraldine Meehan, Collette Kelly and Majella Nolan, sons in law, grandchildren, extended family, neighbours  and friends.

Community Games

A large number of children participated in Community Games Art 2016. FIRST and SECOND place in each age group, (EXCEPT UNDER 6) boys and girls go forward to Community Games Art County Final at CBS School, Ennis on Saturday 6 February, 2016 at 09.30am.

G.A.A. & Camogie Club registration.

The local Minor hurling club has teamed up with the local camogie club this year in holding a joint registration night in Toonagh Hall on this Fri. night, 5th Feb. at 7.30pm. All boys from under 6 to under 18 need to register on the night in order to train and play with the club during 2016.                                                                  Family Club membership is being promoted and details will be available on Fri. night.
All players and parents involved in the camogie club are requested to attend for registration.

Medal presentation.
The Ruan u13 championship winning panel will receive their medals during the registration evening in Toonagh Hall on Fri. night at 7.30pm. Refreshments will be served  and all are welcome.

County Indoor Athletics Championships

Local children did very well on Sunday in the County Indoor Athletics Championships in Nenagh.  Neasa Ni Ainifein won her u13, 600m in a very fast time of 1.52.25.
Aisling Moloney won the u12, 600m in a time of 1.58.14 and she also won the u12 shot putt with a throw of 5.82metres.                                                                                   Aoife Anderson and also Aodain, Neasa and Roisa Ni Lachtnain  all performed very well, just missing out on the medals.

The death has taken place, in Canada, of Kitty Crowe, sister of the late Paddy (Red) Crowe, Dromina, Dysart and Brid Cahill, Caherbulane, Corofin, mother of Anne Foley, Adroon, Ruan.
