Equine Success.

The re-instated Irish Quarter Horse Association’s National Championships, we’re held last week, with four secondary school girls from this area, three from this parish and one from Kilnamona, participating in competitions. Competing in the Novice Youth Championships, the four friends took away ribbons and trophies at the National Championships held at the Drumcoura Equestrian Centre in Ballinsmore, Co. Leitrim.
Emma Finucane (16), won all three classes in the new In-Hand Novice Youth Championship with her horse Easybee Harlequin ISH. Her sister, Roisin Finucane (16), competing with the same horse, won the Hunter Novice Youth Championship. The Ranch Horse Novice Youth Championship was won by Kate O’Donoghue (16),competing with the Irish cob Calamity Jayne, owned by Amanda Horan. Eva Brody (13) who placed second twice in the In-Hand Novice Youth Championship, competed with Moonshine, a true Quarter Horse, owned by Paul Duffy.

Camogie.
Both adult Camogie teams are playing this weekend.
They play in the Junior C Shield Final on Saturday October 1, at 5pm in Feakle against Parteen.
The Junior A Championship semi final will be played on Sunday October 2, at 4pm in Cratloe against Truagh/Clonlara. All support will be welcomed by the girls who have trained hard to reach this stage in the competitions.
The girls in the local Camogie Club would also like to congratulate Ruan XL shop on winning the best marketing award at the Retail Awards last week. Since the shop opened in the village two years ago, the Rice family has been a huge support to the local community and has brought a new impetus to life in the village and local area.

Crafts Return.
Wednesday Oct. 5 is the return date for the craft group returning to Toonagh Hall from 11am. Anyone interested in any craft - knitting, crochet, patchwork, embroidery is welcome to bring their work to the gathering where there’ll be a cuppa, some home baking and advice/tips, if needed.

Coffee for Hospice.
The Toonagh school Parents Association wishes to thank everyone who helped make the Coffee Morning it hosted in Toonagh Hall on Wednesday last, in aid of Cahercalla Hospice, such a success. €690 was raised on the morning and it was a wonderful gathering meeting locals and new faces as well as having all the students and staff of Toonagh N.S. pop in for a visit and a cuppa.

Clothes Collection.
A gentle reminder to those thinking of doing a clear out in the next fortnight that Toonagh School will hold a clothing collection on October 14th where all clothing, shoes, bedlinen, towels, etc ( no duvets or pillows please) can be dropped to Toonagh Hall. Monies raised from this will go towards purchasing essential resources for the school.

Ruan GAA Club: The Ruan GAA club would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has supported our fundraising campaign to date. The campaign’s objective is to raise funds needed to complete the development of our new stand, meeting room and gym.

If you would like to donate, please contact any club officer or follow the instructions on the letters previously delivered to all parishioners. This development is a wonderful facility in our club and community and we hope people will get behind us one last time to raise the funds needed to fully complete it.
